INDIANAPOLIS -- The double murder trial of an alleged hitman linked to the 'Grundy Crew' ended late Wednesday night in a hung jury.
John Means currently stands accused in two double murders. He was on trial this week in connection to the deaths of Carlos Jefferson and Julius Douglas on Feb. 1, 2014.
Marion County prosecutors alleged Means was hired by Richard Grundy III – himself accused of being the ringleader of a drug trafficking organization linked to multiple homicides in Indianapolis, including the four Means was charged in – to kill Jefferson and Douglas, along with two other men, Tyrece Dorsey and William Davis.

Means has yet to go to trial on the second set of murder charges.
But the trial ended without resolution Wednesday after jurors failed to reach a verdict following hours of deliberation.
Judge Grant Hawkins set a new trial date for January 30. Means will be in court before that, though, as his trial on murder charges in connection to Dorsey and Davis' deaths is scheduled to begin December 12.
This is the second setback in the case this year for prosecutors.
In April, the prosecutor's office announced it was dropping four murder charges against Grundy because a key witness was found to have lied about her identity.
Grundy was released on bond shortly after the murder charges against him were dropped. He still faces numerous other charges for alleged drug dealing and criminal gang activity.
