FORT WAYNE, Ind. Allen County prosecutors have filed new murder charges against a Fort Wayne mother accused of killing her two young children last year.

Amber Pasztor, 30, pleaded guilty but mentally ill earlier this month to the murders of her 7-year-old daughter Liliana Hernandez and 6-year-old son Rene Pasztor.

An Amber Alert was issued for the children in September 2016 after Pasztor took them from their father's home.

Their bodies were found in Pasztor's car after she approached Elkhart police saying he had "two dead people" in her vehicle.

The body of 66-year-old Frank Macomber was also found in a wooded area in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At the time, police linked Macomber's death to the Amber Alert, but released few other details.

Pasztor was not yet facing charges in connection with Macomber's death until Tuesday, when Allen County prosecutors filed a new count of murder against her.

According to ABC affiliate WPTA 21 in Fort Wayne, a probable cause affidavit filed against Pasztor alleges she shot Macomber with a deer hunting rifle he purchased her.

In the affidavit, police say Pasztor allegedly told them she believed Macomber had set her and her children up with the Mexican cartel, who she thought was coming to kill them.

"The defendant stated she knew [Macomber] was working with them (the cartels) because he had a shovel and wires," investigators wrote in the affidavit.

As part of the plea deal she agreed to in her children's death, Pasztor faces up to 130 years in prison. She could face an additional sentence of up to life without parole for Macomber's death.
