INDIANAPOLIS -- The Central Indiana Community Foundation announced the recipients Monday of $400,000 in community crime prevention grants.
The grants, distributed as Phase I of the annual Community Crime Prevention Grant Program, will go to 10 organizations to support initiatives to prevent retaliation or reduce crime through conflict resolution.
The Indianapolis City-County Council recently expanded the guidelines for the program to focus more on street-outreach and crisis intervention.
Earlier this year, Indianapolis City-County Councilor Zach Adamson told RTV6 he hoped to see more prevention dollars shifted away from recidivism, which, he said, had dominated previous grant cycles.

The application window for Phase II of the Community Crime Prevention Grants will open in July with awards announced in September.
