HENRY COUNTY, Ind. -- A Henry County sheriff's deputy discovered nearly 60 pounds of marijuana Wednesday during a routine traffic stop on I-70 in Henry County.

At 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, a member of the joint Henry-Hancock county Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement (PACE) team stopped a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70.

The deputy reportedly observed "multiple indicators of criminal activity" from the driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Andrew Larkin, of Veneta, Oregon. Larkin was found to have a loaded handgun in his front pants pocket. The deputy also smelled a "strong odor" of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up more than 45 large, vacuum-sealed bags of "high grade marijuana," according to police. The bags also contained smaller amounts of THX wax and hash paste.

In all, police said there were 58 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $200,000.

Following the search, Larkin was taken into custody on a preliminary felony charge of dealing marijuana.
