INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis arson investigators have been called to at least nine separate car fires over the past month – but that's about par for the course, they say.
The nine cases include only incidents where investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.
The most recent incident happened Friday morning, when a woman woke up just before 6 a.m. on the Near Eastside to find her car was on fire.
IMPD and the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the 2800 block of North Olney Street last Tuesday on a report of two vehicles on fire – one of which was possibly stolen.
On April 18, a Lawrence police officer located a vehicle that had been burned and shot in the 4200 block of North Franklin Road.
Right now, IFD says its arson team doesn't believe any of the vehicle fires are connected.
Two people were arrested in connection to a residence and vehicle fire on April 20 in the 1100 block of South Bradley Avenue. The remaining vehicle fires are still under investigation.
