INDIANAPOLIS -- Two vehicles with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were damaged over the weekend after an underage party led to a fight on Indianapolis' west side.

Just before midnight Saturday, police were called to the intersection of 16th Street and Rochester Avenue, near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Dispatchers told the officers that a large group of people were fighting in the middle of the street.

When police arrived, they found 40 to 50 juveniles fighting in the middle of 16th Street. Police saw a 16-year-old who was armed, and tried to detain him. He began to run, but was caught by police.

While police were dealing with the armed juvenile, somebody threw a concrete block through the back window of an unmarked and unoccupied police car.

Moments later, another person threw a concrete block through the back window of a marked police car. That car had an officer in it. The concrete block hit the driver's side headrest, causing neck pain. The officer was checked out and released.

The 16-year-old was arrested for carrying a gun without a license. He was charged as a minor in juvenile court.
