INDIANAPOLIS -- A Marion County jury delivered a guilty verdict Wednesday against a man accused in a September 2016 homicide.

Robert Drake, 27, was arrested last year in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Dominique Dunbar. Dunbar was fatally shot in the 1100 block of North Kealing Avenue around 9 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2016.

At the time, police said they thought robbery was behind the shooting.

On Wednesday, following three days of trial, a Marion County jury convicted Drake of murder and burglary in the case.

Jail records show Drake’s only other prior arrest in Indianapolis was for driving without a license.

A sentencing hearing for Drake was scheduled for Sept. 8.

Police are still looking for the suspect in another fatal shooting that also happened on the 1100 block of Kealing Avenue on the same day.

Investigators believe it was also a robbery attempt that led to the fatal shooting of 44-year-old David Ruby around 1:30 a.m. To date, police have not publicly identified a suspect in the shooting, but have said they don’t believe the two Kealing Avenue shootings are related.
