2 arrested after man beaten in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Ind. -- Police in Westfield arrested two people after a man was found beaten in a parking lot.

The man, 24-year-old Corey Zimmer, was found in the 17200 block of Gunther Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was later pronounced dead.

After an investigation, police arrested Joseph James Coccaro IV and Shakka Eugene Brogdon in connection with Zimmer's death.

Both men are 22.

Coccaro faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Involuntary manslaughter
  • Aggravated battery
  • Aggravated battery
  • Intimidation
  • Dealing in marijuana

Brogdon faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Involuntary manslaughter
  • Aggravated battery
  • Aggravated battery

Police say Zimmer wasn't randomly selected by the two men.
