INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say a 32-year-old Indianapolis man has now died from injuries sustained in a shooting Friday morning at an east side motel.
IMPD officers were called to the Budget 8 Inn at 6850 E. 21st Street around 11:30 a.m. Friday on a report of a person shot.
Officers arrived to find 32-year-old Vincent Lanking lying on the lobby floor with an apparent gunshot wound.
Witnesses told police that 34-year-old Xiyya Jackson had shot Lanking. She was subsequently arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder. Police also recovered a firearm from her possession believed to have been used in the shooting.
On Monday, police said Lanking had died of his injuries.
As of this writing, Jackson remained in custody at the Marion County Jail.
