INDIANAPOLIS -- A 62-year-old man was stuffed in the trunk of a vehicle during a robbery outside of a bank Friday afternoon, and the FBI is now investigating.

The robbery happened just before 3:30 p.m. outside of the Fifth Third Bank at 38th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on the city’s near north side.

The victim was near the opened trunk of his Toyota Yaris in the bank’s parking lot when two suspects came up to him with a gun, pushed him inside the trunk, stole his bag and locked him inside the trunk, according to reports obtained by Call 6 Investigates.

When police arrived, the man was still locked inside his trunk and firefighters responded to unlock the car and open the trunk. The victim told detectives he was a courier for the bank delivering a bag of t-shirts.

The man was slightly injured during the incident and is cooperating with investigators, according to reports.

IMPD detectives and the FBI are investigating the case.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
