KOKOMO, Ind. -- Kokomo police are searching for a man in connection to a deadly stabbing outside a dollar store Thursday evening.

The stabbing happened just after 9 p.m. outside the Dollar Tree on S. Reed Road.

When Kokomo police arrived on the scene they found Jeremy Scott Peterson, 31, lying inside the store. He was taken to Community Howard and later flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He later died from his injuries early Friday morning.

Investigators believe Peterson had a confrontation with Alan Tinker, 37, outside the Dollar Tree that led to the stabbing.

Witnesses told police that Tinker left the scene in a green Chevrolet Blazer or Trailblazer.

Police are looking still actively looking for Tinker. Anyone with information on where he might be is asked to contact the Kokomo Police Tipline at 765-456-7017 or Crime Stoppers of central Indiana at 1-800-222-8477.
