Man wanted in connection with October deadly hit and run arrested

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man wanted for leaving the scene of a deadly crash was arrested Tuesday morning after a traffic stop on I-69.

An Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling the area of 96th Street and I-69 when he says he saw a driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, entering the ramp to I-69 southbound.

The trooper says he got behind the car and the driver sped up above the posted speed limit.

The car was stopped on I-69 near I-465.  The trooper says the driver did not provide ID and verbally gave false identifying information. 

Further investigation led the trooper to positively identify the driver as Andy Raul Orellana De Leon, 25, of Indianapolis.

He was taken into custody without in incident and transported to the Marion County Jail

Orellana De Leon was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Marion County in connection with a deadly hit and run in Indianapolis in October 2015.

A bicyclist. Charles Jones, 27, of Indianapolis, was killed at the intersection of East Euclid Avenue and Michigan Street.
