COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A Columbus man is accused of walking down a busy highway completely naked after trying to break into a random garage.

Columbus police arrested Sterling Wessel, 26, on Friday after they found him walking in the nude and yelling gibberish in front of the Kroger on U.S. 31.

Police were initially called to a home on Dale Court about an unknown person entering a garage. On their way to the scene, officers learned that the man had taken off all of his clothes before heading down U.S. 31 towards Kroger.

When police confronted Wessel in front of the store he resisted and an officer had to hold him on the ground until other officers arrived to help.

Wessel was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital to be checked out before being placed under arrest. He's charged with residential entry, public nudity, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
