INDIANAPOLIS -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a deadly hit-and-run on Indianapolis’ west side early Sunday morning.

The crash happened just after midnight on 34th Street at the intersection of Moller Road.

Police say a Dodge Neon was hit by a Volkswagon Passat while turning onto 34th. The impact of the collision caused the Neon to split in half.

The passenger, a 22-year-old woman, was killed in the crash. Her identity has not been released. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the second vehicle kept going and went into a fence up the road. The driver then got out and took off running but was quickly taken into custody.

Police have arrested Tresor Shema, 20, in connection with the crash. They believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
