INDIANAPOLIS -- The passenger in the car during a deadly officer-involved shooting in Indianapolis last week is now accused of stabbing a man with a screwdriver.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim flagged down an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer on Saturday and said he was stabbed “for no apparent reason” by a woman nicknamed “Poo.”

When officers located Shiwanda Ward nearby she raised her hand and said she was the person they were looking for. Officers said Ward told them the victim had tried to pour gasoline on her so she stabbed him with a screwdriver.

“Yea I shanked him,” she stated to police.

The victim denied medical attention. Officers said they found no evidence that he had tried to pour gasoline on Ward but because both victims were intoxicated it was hard to get a full story.

Ward is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury in relation to the assault.

IMPD Chief Bryan Roach called Ward the "only living witness" to the incident last week where two IMPD officers fatally shot and killed Aaron Bailey after he sped away during a traffic stop and crashed into a nearby tree. No weapon was found inside Bailey’s vehicle.

Ward was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in that incident but was later released on bond.
