Anderson police arrest one in connection to murder of 18-year-old, searching for second

ANDERSON, Ind. -- An 18-year-old was shot and killed outside a Madison County home on Thursday and police are searching for a man in connection to the murder. 

Police were called to the scene in the 1800 block of West 21st Street around 5:20 p.m. The found Shaolin Newsome, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking for Jaylon Brown, 18, for questioning in connection to the murder.

On Friday, police arrested Tyrone Jones, 17. They believe he may have been driving the car that left the murder scene. 

Newsome was a 2016 graduate of Anderson High School. 

Anderson Community Schools released the following statement on Friday:

"The news of the death of 2016 Anderson High School graduate, Shaolin “Tyreek” Newsom, evoked grief among the Anderson Community School Corporation community.  Counselors and staff were available throughout the day on Friday at various locations throughout the corporation in order to meet the needs of grieving students and staff.  Anderson Community Schools would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Tyreek Newsom during this difficult time."
