Police: Two arrested in connection with theft of explosives in Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. – Two people have been arrested for theft and burglary in connection with explosive materials that were stolen from a mining facility in Kokomo, according to police.

Underground explosives were taken from the Martin Marietta mining facility between Feb. 7 and Feb. 16. 

ATF agents say they received information related to possible suspects in the case last Friday.

Evidence believed to be related to the burglary and theft of items from Martin Marietta was recovered at an address in the 2200 block of north Ohio Street.

Police say Nash Whitaker, 19, and Nathaniel Cox, 22, both of Kokomo, were arrested.

The investigation is still active at this time. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering up to a $5,000 reward for anyone who can supply information on the case.
