INDIANAPOLIS -- A retired officer helped chase and catch two people suspected of robbery on Indy's southwest side Monday night.

The officer was near the Dollar General at the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and Mann Road around 11 p.m.

He saw two suspects get in a car and run, then he chased them in his car. The officer, who has not been named, called 911 while following them.

While they were running, the two suspects fired shots at the retired officer.

A witness came forward with information to help track the suspects and the car. Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department setup a perimeter and caught them.

The suspects have not been identified. They are facing robbery charges.
