Second arrest made in connection to murder of 18-year-old Anderson man

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Police have arrested a second man in connection to the murder of an 18-year-old in Madison County. 

Police say Shaolin Newsome was shot and killed outside a home on the 1800 block of West 21st Street last week.

Police arrested Jaylon Brown Monday evening. He's charged with murder. 

Police had initially arrested Tyrone Jones, 17. They believe he may have been driving the car that left the murder scene. 

Newsome was a 2016 graduate of Anderson High School. 

Anderson Community Schools released the following statement on Friday:

"The news of the death of 2016 Anderson High School graduate, Shaolin “Tyreek” Newsom, evoked grief among the Anderson Community School Corporation community.  Counselors and staff were available throughout the day on Friday at various locations throughout the corporation in order to meet the needs of grieving students and staff.  Anderson Community Schools would like to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Tyreek Newsom during this difficult time."

The murder remains under investigation by the Anderson Police Department.
