SPEEDWAY, Ind. -- A Speedway woman was badly injured last week when a man attacked her and ran her over with her own car.

The incident occurred at the Thornton's gas station at 5760 Crawfordsville Road overnight between Oct. 12 and Oct. 13.

According to the police report, the woman said an unidentified man took her keys and attempted to steal her vehicle.

The victim's fiancé told RTV6 she attempted to fight back, at which point the suspect attacked her.

In the process of fleeing in her vehicle, the victim told police the suspect ran her over.

The suspect then fled on foot after crashing the car a short distance away.

Police are still looking for the suspect, described as a black male in his early 20s. He was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.

The suspect is facing preliminary charges of auto theft, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness.

The victim declined to speak with RTV6 on camera due to the severity of her injuries.
