Suspect arrested in murder of man found dead on UAW lot in Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Kokomo police arrested a suspect Friday in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a United Auto Workers parking lot earlier this week.

Marcus D. Byars, 31, of Kokomo, was taken into custody Friday morning on a preliminary charge of murder in connection with the death of 29-year-old Jason Heck, also of Kokomo.

Heck's body was found Monday on the property of the UAW 1166 in the 2700 block of North State Road 50 East.

Kokomo police said the case remains under investigation. They've asked anyone with additional information to contact homicide detectives at 765-456-7017 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
