BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Bloomington police are investigating swastikas and "KKK" graffiti left on the B-Line Trail overnight.

The graffiti left on the B-Line Trail near Diamond and 11th Streets was reported to police late Thursday night by an anonymous caller, according to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams. As of right now, Kellams said police have little to go on.

"We have very, very little information on this," he said. "Someone wanted to anonymously report that they saw a male with a beard spray-painting on the B-Line Trail."

Kellams said it wasn't clear whether paint or some other kind of marker was used to make the graffiti.

Bloomington resident Ijah McCulley told RTV6 she was appalled to come across the marks this morning as she was walking her dogs on the B-Line Trail.

"The first tree is right by my house," McCulley said. "It was shocking."

As of noon, another Bloomington resident told RTV6 the graffiti appeared to have been covered up.

Police said the investigation into the graffiti was at a very preliminary stage and no further information was available.
