Teen critical after being shot while driving on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot while driving on Indianapolis' northeast side Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened near the intersection of 38th Street and Keystone Avenue. 

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene, the 16-year-old was driving when he was shot. The teen's cousin was also in the car and was able to drive him to a nearby McDonald's to call for help.

The teen was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released.

Police have not made any arrests at this time. 

The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
