Thousands of dollars worth of property stolen from stores, 2 arrested

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Two people were arrested after police searched their house for more than a full day, finding stolen property from many major retailers. 

Monday afternoon, troopers with the Indiana State Police went to a house in the 1900 block of Keller Avenue to try and find a wanted person. In a search of the house, police found two ounces of crystal meth and thousands of dollars in stolen property. 

It took police more than 24 hours to go through the house and contact victims to claim their property. 

Much of the stolen property was from Walmart, Lowes, Menards, Rural King, Best Buy and other businesses. Other stolen property was reported from thefts in the area. Counterfeit money was also found at the house.

The homeowner, Jason D. Warren, 44, and his girlfriend, Rhonda A. Oliphant, 44, were arrested.

Warren faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Dealing methamphetamine
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Maintaining a common nuisance
  • Possession of a syringe
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Counterfeiting

Oliphant faces the following preliminary charges:

  • Dealing methamphetamine
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of a syringe
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Visiting a common nuisance
