WARSAW, Ind. -- A Kosciusko County man is accused of killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter and burying her in a shallow grave.
Christopher A. Grimmett, 29, of Warsaw, Indiana, was arrested on preliminary charges of murder in connection to the death of 2-year-old Adalin P. Stamper.
Police were initially called for a custody complaint. During an interview, Grimmett said he had been babysitting Adalin earlier in the day Thursday, but that her maternal grandmother had picked her up.
Officers eventually determined that was false, and back-tracked Grimmett's path, leading them to a home on the 1800 block of Sue Avenue in Warsaw.
There, investigators found Adalin's body buried in a shallow grave on the property.
Following the discovery, police arrested Grimmett on a preliminary charge of murder.
Determination of a cause of death was awaiting an autopsy.
