BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University police are investigating a report of a possible rape at a Bloomington fraternity house this week.

IUPD received a report Wednesday night from a female victim who said that, while visiting a fraternity in the 1200 block of North Jordan Avenue, she experienced a loss of memory.

The victim told police that when she woke up, she found she had experienced injuries "consistent with rape," according to a release from the university.

The school said there is currently no suspect information available.

Campus sexual assault data maintained by the U.S. Department of Education, commonly known as Clery Reports for the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act which mandates its collection, shows the number of forcible sex offenses reported to IUPD nearly doubled between 2014 and 2015 (the most recent year available) – increasing to 55 in 2015 from 29 the previous year.

That number puts IU in the middle of the pack of Indiana's four largest universities, with a sex offense rate of 1.13 per 1,000 students. Purdue University, by comparison, reported a sex offense rate of 0.94 per 1,000 students. IUPUI saw the fewest offenses reported, with a rate of 0.39 per 1,000 students.

Indiana University police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 812-855-4111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
