INDIANAPOLIS -- A young woman says two men robbed her at gunpoint Tuesday morning outside of Circle Centre Mall.

The robbery occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Maryland and Illinois streets.

According to the police report, the woman said two men, both estimated to be in their mid-20s, approached her and robbed her at gunpoint.

One of the suspects is described as a black male standing roughly 6' tall with black dreadlocks and a large build. The other suspect is described as a white male standing about 5'10 tall with short hair.

Police records show only one other robbery reported so far this month in the Mile Square (the area bounded on the west and east by West Street and East Street, and the north and south by North Street and South Street).

Over the past three months, a total of 14 robbery reports have been made in the Mile Square – several of them residential and not all of them armed.

In one case, a woman told police she was attacked and then robbed by a homeless man with a knife when she attempted to give him food.

A few days after that report, two men told IMPD they were robbed at gunpoint near Ohio Street and Senate Avenue by two black men who threatened to "blow their heads off."

In another incident, a man staying at the Columbia Club on Monument Circle told police his wallet and phone were taken and he suffered a black eye during a robbery.

Anyone with information about Tuesday morning's robbery, or any other crime, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
