Seniors ran marathon every day in 2013

Think you could run a marathon? How about a marathon every day for a whole year?

An Australian couple claims to have done just that – finishing their 366th consecutive marathon on Jan. 1, according to ABC News .

What's more impressive is that the two runners are in their 60s, and did it all on a raw, vegan diet.

Alan Murray, 68, and Janette Murray-Wakelin, 64, have run more than 9,776 miles since they started their journey Jan. 1, 2013. They decided to take on the gargantuan task to educate people about healthy lifestyles, according to their website ( ) – a goal motivated in part by Janette's breast cancer diagnosis at 52, when she was given only 6 months to live.

Now, 12 years later, the Murrays say they're healthier than ever.

"We are healthier, more physically fit and have unlimited energy at beyond 60 years of age than in our earlier years," they wrote on the website.

The Murrays' diet eschews animal products in favor of fresh fruits and vegetables. According to their website, a typical lunch would include 10 or more oranges, a melon, a pineapple and five or more bananas.
