Editor's note: This is the first in a series of personal narratives by RTV6 Photojournalist Jason Scheuer, chronicling his love for Star Wars in anticipation of Star Wars Ep. VII The Force Awakens. He will also be wearing a different Star Wars shirt each day before the premiere. Follow along with his Twitter account, @jason_scheuer .

If you have spent even a second in a major retail store in the last few weeks you have probably been unable to avoid the onslaught of merchandise tie-ins for the new Star Wars movie -- The Force Awakens.

Shirts, coffee creamer,  toys, Jell-o, pillows, soup, ornaments, chips and even makeup. Yes, there is apparently a line of women’s makeup with a Star Wars promotion.

See, Star Wars is for everyone -- not just boys. As a sucker for anything Star Wars, I will admit I am drawing the line on purchasing makeup, but if my wife just happens to use this line and has the case with the logo on it, I would probably add it to my collection when she is done with it.

I digress ... so back to my original thought.

Yes there are a ton of products out there with a connection to Star Wars -- one of which has become a fun, if not a tasty adventure, Cereal. with a prize in the box.

Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs all with a free Star Wars Droid Viewer in the box. Collect all six.

Kind of like a little viewmaster but with only one image in each one. As frugal grocery shoppers, our family tends to buy store brands all of which usually avoid the whole prize-in-the-cereal-box thing.

This, however, changes things for a while at least utill we get one of each. There is also a fun little decoding game on the back of the box -- very reminiscent of Ralphie and this Little Orphan Annie decoder ring.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that a certain store has an exclusive one you can only get from them. Growing up in the '70s and '80s I fondly remember the joy that is trying to get a little plastic toy out of the cereal box.

We had some coupons combined with a sale and picked up a few boxes (I have to admit -- yes we 12 boxes of cereal) So we are stocked for the next year or so on breakfast choices.

We have one rule, we have to finish a box before we open up a new one. It stretches the fun out as we wait  for Dec. 18 to arrive.
