Sept. 24: 13 former "Dancing with the Stars" standouts took to the dance floor for the first time Monday in the much-anticipated all-star season. Former football star Emmitt Smith and his partner, Cheryl Burke, came out on top in the first round.

"I'm very sad because that means we have no place to go but down," Smith said, laughing.

Half a point behind for second was actor Gilles Marini and partner Peta Murgatroyd.

"It would be lovely to go second place to first, the end. I don't want the stress," Marini said.

Disney star Sabrina Bryan and her new partner, Louis Van Amstel, came in at No. 3.

"He's the ying to my yang. We are the Van Bryans, and that's just how it is," Bryan teased.

Olympian Shawn Johnson and partner Derek Hough tied for fourth place…

There was a three-way tie for sixth among three former "Dancing" champions, including IndyCar's own Helio Castroneves.

The three-time Indianapolis 500 champion told RTV6's Dave Furst that he was happy to get back on the dance floor.

"The warm welcome from the fans and the crowd were absolutely awesome. I was actually overwhelmed. It was like, 'This is unbelievable,"' Castroneves said. "That part threw me a little bit off, but at the end of the day, we had a great time."
