A man who was arrested earlier this week after police said he was seen on surveillance tape rummaging through a day care center while wearing a bikini expressed regret before a court appearance Thursday.Robert Brenneman, 43, pleaded not guilty to charges of trespassing and resisting law enforcement.
As he was led into court, Brenneman said, "I'm sorry, mom. I'm sorry everybody."Indianapolis police released last week surveillance video from the Kidscape Learning Center in the 7000 block of West Washington Street in which a man was seen wearing what appeared to be a two-piece kids' bikini."It wasn't a children's swimsuit," Brenneman said. "I have a fetish for women's clothing."Brenneman was taken into custody Monday across the street from the RTV6 studios in the 1300 block of North Meridian Street after a brief foot chase.Investigators said Brenneman, who has a criminal background that includes child sex-related convictions and was on parole at the time, admitted that he was at Kidscape on Oct. 20."It is disappointing from a parole perspective," said Steven Keever, state parole services director. "We provide supervision, promote positive re-entry focuses, and when they do get rearrested and make bad choices, we do our job and write violations and request parole violation warrants."Brenneman's criminal history includes prior convictions on sex-related charges in Iowa and Florida, along with convictions on burglary, dissemination of materials harmful to minors and theft in Indiana. He had been released from jail in September.
