Disney star Zendaya, country singer Kellie Pickler shine on first week of 'Dancing with the Stars'
-
"Dancing with the Stars" fans got to see the full field of celebrities in action Monday night for the first time, and there are already some clearly strong competitors.
-
With their contemporary dance, Disney star Zendaya and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, landed in first place with triple digits.
-
"I was just going out there with the intention of getting the highest possible thing I could get, and the fact that it was so great on the first time, it was perfect," she said.
-
Country singer Kellie Pickler and partner Derek Hough ended in a three-way tie for second.
-
"I'm just glad to be here. I'm glad I didn't fall, because I did bust my butt in rehearsals the other day. I fell pretty hard," Pickler said afterward.
-
Gymnast Aly Raisman and partner Mark Ballas are also tied for second …
-
… along with ice skating legend Dorothy Hamill and partner Tristan MacManus, all scoring triple sevens.
-
-
"General Hospital" star Ingo Rademacher and partner Kym Johnson scored 20 points to tie for fifth …
-
… along with NFL star Jacoby Jones and partner Karina Smirnoff.
-
"Whatever she throws at me, I just go, 'OK, that's what we're doing,' and then that's what we're doing," Rademacher said.
-
One point behind them was "The Bachelor" Sean Lowe and partner Peta Murgatroyd.
-
"I want to win, plain and simple, I want to win," Lowe said. "And I'm so blessed to have Peta as a partner, because she will work tirelessly."
-
Reality star Lisa Vanderpump and partner Gleb Savchenko tied for eighth place. Vanderpump brought along some four-legged encouragement -- her dog Giggy.
-
"He's done his dance. He's kind of ready to go home and have a drink," she said afterward.
-
Wynonna Judd and partner Tony Dovolani also tied for eighth.
-
Her mother, Naomi Judd, and sister, Ashley Judd, were in the audience to cheer her on.
-
Boxer Victor Ortiz and partner Lindsay Arnold
-
"The nerves, they wouldn't let me be like me for a second," he said. "And then finally, when I got lost in those pretty eyes, I was like, 'Yes! all right.'"
-
One point behind him was comedian Andy Dick and partner Sharna Burgess.
-
"I'm loving this," he said.
-
And at the bottom, with just 12 points, was comedian D.L. Hughley.
-
"I was never confident, but what I am not is a coward, so I'm going to do a lot better next week," he said afterward.
-
There's no elimination show this week, so all 12 couples get to dance one more time before someone goes home next week.
