Facebook Helps Henryville Survivors Reclaim Lost Memories

Woman Creates 'I Found Your Memory' Page To Help Residents

A southern Indiana woman is using Facebook to help Henryville tornado survivors find their belongings lost in the storm.

Henryville resident Lori Lynch said she doesn't have much left herself, and she lost her high school diploma.

“Almost all of our physical things are gone,” Lynch said.

Down the road from Henryville, New Pekin native Victoria George started a Facebook page dedicated to reconnecting tornado victims with their belongings, RTV6's Chance Walser reported.

Last week, a woman in Cincinnati posted online that she found Lynch’s diploma, but before shipping it back, she placed it in a new frame before dropping it in the mail.

“We’re finding everything from high school diplomas to birth certificates, paintings and photographs. Of course, photographs mean the most,” George said.

Despite the fact that Lynch no longer has a home for a diploma, she said she’s grateful she was able to reclaim a small piece of her past.

“The piece of paper means very little to me. But the fact that somebody cared enough to do something like this really means a lot,” Lynch said.
