Indianapolis has extended its emergency declaration, essentially banning personal fireworks for the remainder of the year.

In light of the recent drought conditions, Mayor Greg Ballard on Friday extended the city's the local disaster emergency declaration through July 9.

An existing city ordinance already bans the use of personal fireworks from July 10 until the end of December.

Hamilton County also extended its outdoor burning and fireworks ban indefinitely.

Temperatures are expected to soar into the triple digits Friday and Saturday before a slight chance of spotty showers Sunday.
