INDIANAPOLIS - October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the City of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Colts showed their support for the cause Friday afternoon.
The Indianapolis Colts teamed up with the city for the Pinking of the Canal. The canal now has a bright pink fountain.
Men and women decked out in pink T-shirts surrounded the canal for the occasion.
Breast cancer survivors said the event was inspirational for them.
"For the city to raise awareness like this, and tell people that it's not a death sentence. That we can win the battle of life, we can live every day, even if we have cancer," survivor Jeanne Craig said.
The event marked the third year the Colts have helped turn the canal pink.
The Colts also sold special-edition items and all the proceeds benefitted the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center.
