ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - A Zionsville freshman with Down syndrome was treated like royalty during the homecoming football game Friday night.
AnnCatherine Heigl was named one of the homecoming princesses at Zionsville Community High School.
Heigl was beaming when she took to the field during halftime for the homecoming ceremonies.
Her sister said it really means a lot to Heigl to have her fellow classmates vote for her.
"It’s kind of an affirmation that all of our years of hard work with AnnCatherine, working on things with her socially and academically, are being recognized. Not only just by us anymore, but also by her peers, as they are the ones that nominated her for this, and it is a huge honor for her," Lillie Heigl said.
Before the game, Heigl said it was an awesome and exciting night, and being chosen to be a princess made her happy.
