INDIANAPOLIS - All cats look the same in the dark. So why not give a home to a cat that might encounter prejudice due to its color?
The Hoosier Lottery says not only do we have a Friday the 13th coming up, but June is Adopt-A Cat Month.
The lottery is teaming up with animal shelters in Allen, Marion, Vigo, Clark and Floyd counties this Friday to bring further awareness to Indiana residents of cat-adoption opportunities -- particularly black cats in need of a forever home.
Officials said the first 13 people (ages 18 or older) who adopt a black cat on Friday the 13th from Southside Animal Shelter or FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic from noon to 5 p.m. will get a Hoosier Lottery $50-value prize pack full of free lottery tickets and merchandise.
Other Indiana cities can take advantage of the same incentive on Friday. Included in the shelters participating are the: Allen County SPCA in Fort Wayne; Terre Haute Humane Society; New Albany/Floyd County Animal Shelter in New Albany; and Humane Association of Clark County in Jeffersonville.
