THORNTOWN, Ind. - Hundreds of Indiana Christmas trees will be flown overseas to servicemen and women thanks to local farmers.
Indiana Christmas tree farmers teamed up with FedEx for the Trees for Troops program that provides trees to armed forces members and their families stationed overseas.
FedEx volunteers gathered Tuesday at Dull’s Tree Farm in Thorntown, Ind. to box up trees that were donated by growers from all over the state.
About 250 trees from Indiana will be sent to U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
"It’s a small thing we can do to help them. You try to think about what you would appreciate if you were in their shoes, and that's one thing I would appreciate," Tom Dull said.
FedEx and farmers from around the country will send a total of 17,000 Christmas trees to military bases all over the world.
