INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Zoo has a new addition to the family.
Majani the giraffe was born in Palm Desert, Calif. and came to the Indianapolis Zoo in mid-October.
He was named for the Swahili word meaning "grass."
Following a standard 30-day quarantine, he is now becoming acquainted with the rest of the zoo's herd.
He already stands more than 12 feet tall and zookeepers expect visitors to get their first opportunity to meet Majani in the spring.
