Kokomo man leaves mark as he lays bricks at 86

KOKOMO, Ind. - A Kokomo man who began working as a mason after returning from World War II is still laying bricks more than 60 years later.
Jim Fischer tells the Kokomo Tribune (http://bit.ly/1boD2ew ) he could have worked at the Delco factory when he returned but preferred being outside. The 86-year-old mason is still working, and his reputation still brings in calls from people hoping to hire him for jobs.
Fischer says he only takes on small projects these days. A current one is repairing the stone steps at the Seiberling Mansion.
Fischer says he's been successful because people appreciated the fact that his company kept a clean worksite and did quality work.
He says he doesn't expect to quit laying bricks anytime soon.
