INDIANAPOLIS - A classic case of being in the right place at the right time resulted in the arrest of two men now charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
Hamilton County Sheriff Mark Bowen was off-duty at Castleton Square Mall on Friday morning when he saw two men run out of the Von Maur store carrying clothes.
Bowen said years of experience and training kicked in automatically and he collared the suspects, holding them at gunpoint.
"As they were pulling out of the parking spot, I was able to pull in and head them off at the pass and get out of my car and drew down on them and stopped them," Bowen said. "Subsequently, I saw the manager and clerk coming out of the store and indicated they had a theft and took the subjects into custody and waited for IMPD to show up and take it from there."
Michael Price and Cedric Duncan, both 36, were arrested. Police said the men tried to steal more than $3,500 worth of merchandise.
