INDIANAPOLIS - Kids at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health were treated to a special holiday surprise Thursday afternoon.
Elves made sure to spread holiday cheer as they rappelled down the 10-story Simon Family Tower and waved to children who gathered in playrooms.
The dancing elves gave the children a break from their daily routines.
Santa Claus also made an appearance and gave every child a toy as he made the rounds.
"Many of our patients can’t be home for the holidays," said Melissa Sexton, Riley at IU Health special events coordinator. "Our goal is to bring children every ounce of normalcy possible while hospitalized. This is just one of the many special events we arrange for them year-round."
