Guinea Pig Parachute Won't Lead To Cruelty Charges

19-Year-Old Already Paid Civil Fine

A judge has dismissed an animal cruelty charge against an Indiana University student.

David Feldscott, 19, taped a parachute to a guinea pig and dropped it out an eighth-floor dorm window in December.

The judge dropped the charge since Feldscott had already paid a $500 civil fine to animal control officers.

Feldscott and some other students said they intended to retrieve the animal when it reached the ground, but it got stuck in a tree instead.

The guinea pig was rescued and taken to the Bloomington animal shelter, where employees named it Noel in honor of the holiday season.
