Police are investigating a shooting that left one man in critical condition Thursday night.

Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of North Butler Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Thursday on report of a person shot.

Officers found a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police said the man was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim was standing in the middle of the street when a black SUV pulled up and someone got out.

Witnesses said it looked like the two people were going to fight, but that the SUV occupant pulled a gun and shot the victim, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS. Callers can text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
