Entertainment experts predicted that “The Dark Knight Rises” would be one of biggest blockbusters this summer, but Friday’s tragic shooting at a Colorado theater has overshadowed the film’s anticipated success.

Many theaters in Indiana went to great lengths to decorate their lobbies and entrances in a Gotham City theme, but have since decided to scale back their promotions.

Hoosier Sylvia Williams said she had been excited to see the movie, but is now having second thoughts, RTV6’s Ebone Monet reported.

I'm not really sure about seeing it. I'll probably go, but I probably won't get as much joy out of seeing it,” Williams said.

Other Batman fans said they could not stop thinking about Friday’s tragedy while watching the film. Industry experts said the movie was projected to earn $190 million during opening weekend, but the shooting cut the numbers short.
