Revving up for the debut of her new talk show, Katie Couric visited Indianapolis to channel her inner race car driver at the city's famous oval.

"Katie," which debuts Monday at 3 p.m. on RTV6, will be Couric's first foray into daytime TV after she spent years as a staple in the morning and became the first woman to solo anchor a weekday network news program.

Interactive: More About "Katie"

"I think that as much as I enjoy doing the evening news and felt it was a real honor to sit in that chair, I like interacting with people and talking and conversing and engaging and being spontaneous and natural," Couric told RTV6's Ericka Flye. "I want this show to be all about inclusiveness, and I want everyone to feel a part of the conversation."

Couric's visit to Indianapolis in July was all about speed as she got behind the wheel of a stock car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Luckily, she had former IndyCar driver and NASCAR star Danica Patrick, who will appear on an upcoming episode of "Katie," to show her how it's done.

"She took me for a spin, as it were, around the track, and all I can say is I didn't do a lot of talking," Couric laughed.

Then it was Couric's turn in the driver's seat, punching the car up to 130 mph.

"It was kind of like an out-of-body experience, to be honest, because I was pretty nervous, but then you get behind the wheel and get all the gear on -- the helmet the gloves -- and, I don't know, I got in touch with my inner race car driver," Couric said. "It was an experience, and I think that's what life is all about, having new experiences and trying new things."

Couric hopes her new TV experiment take viewers on a compelling and engaging ride, too.

"I'm going to be fulfilling some of my dreams and doing things I've always wanted to do, but what I'm most excited about is we're going to give people who are watching a chance to check things off their bucket list," she said. "I want everyone to feel there's something there for them, and that's going to be my goal."

"Katie" debuts Monday at 3 p.m. on RTV6.
