DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. - Investigators have identified the man who was killed in a truck fire early Wednesday on Interstate 69 in Delaware County.
Police said the fire sparked just after 5:30 a.m. on I-69 near the southbound rest area at mile marker 50.
ISP said a state police captain was southbound on I-69 when he saw the truck engulfed in flames. Once the Gaston Fire Department had extinguished the flames, investigators found a body in the sleeper of the truck.
That victim has been identified as Baljinder Dhami, 30, of Brampton, Ontario. The truck, a 2013 Peterbilt registered to Karnipal Goods in Brampton, was a total loss, investigators said.
Detectives said the truck was parked at the time. The rest area was closed to traffic during the investigation.
ISP said an investigator from the state fire marshal's office was sent to the scene to investigate the fire. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of Dhami's death.
