BOONE COUNTY, Ind. - A woman was killed and several other people were injured in a crash on Interstate 65 in Boone County early Monday morning that involved six vehicles.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Whitestown exit.

Investigators said Keitra A. Smith, 28, tried to make a lane change, but traffic was slowed or stopped ahead of her.

Smith overcorrected while trying to avoid a collision and struck a guardrail before veering back into traffic. car was hit by two trucks, one of them a tractor-trailer.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

All northbound lanes of I-65 were closed for three hours after the crash. The road reopened before 11:30 a.m.
