2 people lifelined after Shelby Co. accident

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. - Two people were lifelined after a crash Saturday afternoon in Shelby County, officials said.

Officials responded to the scene at County Road 350 South and State Road 9 just after 3 p.m.

Authorities with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department said a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on CR 350 S and was unable to stop at the intersection of SR 9. 

As the Chevrolet entered the roadway, it was struck by a Suzuki Intruder motorcycle, officials said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, an 18-year-old male from Shelbyville, was not injured.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 40-year-old male from Shelbyville, and his passenger, a 29-year-old female from Shelbyville, were both thrown from the motorcycle, officials said.

They were both lifelined to Methodist Hospital and were listed in serious condition.

Shelby County dispatchers said State Road 9 was closed after the accident.

The  crash is still under investigation.
