INDIANAPOLIS - A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured Monday night when a car drove into her home.
The accident happened just after 10:00 in the 5500 block of North Drexel Avenue on the city's northeast side, near the intersection of Binford Boulevard and 56th Street.
Police said a black GMC Envoy was traveling west on 56th Street when it crashed into the home.
Police said the 21-year-old driver is in custody, but they still don't know what caused the accident. Officers said the driver passed a field sobriety test.
The girl, who was on the couch when the vehicle crashed, was taken to IU Methodist Hospital with a possible broken femur and facial lacerations.
The girl's teenage brother and parents were also home at the time of the crash, but they did not sustain any injuries.
A wrecker was called to pull the vehicle from the house.
